Bidets FAQ's

What is a Bidet Seat?

Bidet seat is an attachment that can be replaced with your existing toilet seat that helps to clean both anal and genital areas. Bidet seats are either controlled mechanically, by turning a valve or electronically.

Why should I use a Bidet Seat ?

Personal hygiene is improved and maintained more accurately and easily with the use of both toilet paper and a bidet as compared to the use of toilet paper alone. In some add-on bidets with vertical jets, the use of toilet paper can be avoided as the water amount used is so little. Addressing hemorrhoids and genital health issues might also be facilitated by the use of bidet fixtures.

Bidets are becoming increasingly popular with the elderly and disabled. Combined toilet/bidet installations make self-care toileting possible for many people, affording greater independence. There are often special units with higher toilet seats allowing easier wheelchair transfer, and with some form of electronic remote control that benefits an individual with limited mobility or otherwise requiring assistance.

Bidet seat conversions are much easier and lower cost to install than traditional bidets, and have disrupted the market for the older fixtures.

Do I need electricity?

Some bidets are powered by electricity, whereas others run on your bathroom’s water pressure. Classic bidets, handheld bidet sprayers, and non-electric bidet seats and attachments do not require electricity; electric bidet seats and integrated units do. Of all these options, electric bidets are the most popular choice because they offer a wider range of features and amenities than their non-electric counterparts. For example, non-electric bidet seats generally use ambient temperature wash water and offer a handful of very basic features like adjustable water pressure and wand position. In contrast, all electric bidet seats come with water heaters that provide warm wash water and, depending on the model, can include features like a heated seat, oscillating and pulsating wash spray, enema washing, warm air dryer, deodorizer, LED nightlight, user presets, auto-open and close lid, and more.
